Peja out; Hawks to miss Marvin Wiliams

DALLAS -- Peja Stojakovic, to no surprise, will not suit up tonight against the Atlanta Hawks. Stojakovic's Dallas Mavericks debut is not expected to happen on this homestand which wraps up Monday against the Washington Wizards.

Will he play on the upcoming three-game road trip? Who knows?

As for tonight's game against the Hawks, home winners over the New York Knicks on Friday night, it is possible Atlanta starting forward Marvin Williams, averaging 10.9 points and 4.8 rebounds, might be told by the league to sit this one out.

Williams tangled with Knicks forward and former Mav Shawne Williams in the final minute of Friday's game. Marvin Williams pushed Shawne Williams in the back and threw a punch after Williams retaliated. The two players also had tangled on an earlier possession.

Marvin Williams was immediatley ejected and after reviewing a TV replay, officials also tossed Shawne Williams.

The play will surely be reviewed by the league office and Marvin Williams, if not Shawne Williams, could face a suspension. The question is will the league get it to by tonight's game?

The Mavs play at the Knicks on Wednesday.

(UPDATE: The NBA announced this afternoon that Marvin Williams is suspended two games. Shawne Williams is suspended one game.)
