Dominique Jones has foot surgery

Mavs first-round pick Dominique Jones had surgery to address a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal on his right foot Friday.

The Mavs did not set a timetable for Jones' return, which seems to be the team protocol with injuries. It's likely that Jones' next significant minutes would come in summer league.

Jones, whom the Mavs drafted after paying $3 million for the No. 25 overall pick, played in only 18 NBA games this season. He averaged 2.3 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 7.5 minutes per game.

Jones averaged 18.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 10 games for the D-League Texas Legends.

In other news regarding first-round picks coming off foot surgery, Rodrigue Beaubois has joined the team in Houston. However, he will not play Saturday night.

Coach Rick Carlisle has yet to set a return date for Beaubois, at least publicly.
