Carlisle: Karl provided 'great bulletin-board material'

DALLAS -- After some poking and prodding, Rick Carlisle acknowledged that George Karl's comments could get under the Mavs' skin.

And that's a good thing.

"That should be great motivation for us," Carlisle said on ESPN 103.3's Galloway and Company, referring to the Denver coach's statement that he'd rather face the Mavs than the Thunder in the first round. "If anything, you should be happy that somebody is saying flammable things about your team. That should be great bulletin-board material."

Carlisle also noted that he doesn't think a Denver-Dallas series is likely to happen. He's expecting the Mavs to hold on to the third seed, which could change hands tonight if the Mavs lose to the Clipper and Oklahoma City wins at home against the Nuggets.

Of course, if Karl really wants to see the Mavs, the Thunder's chances of winning tonight are pretty strong.
