DALLAS – Small forward Peja Stojakovic will not be available for the Dallas Mavericks’ regular-season finale against his former team.
“He’s been excused for a personal situation, but he’s expected to rejoin the team tomorrow,” coach Rick Carlisle said before the Mavericks’ home game against the New Orleans Hornets.
The Mavericks (56-25) enter the game with a chance to move up to the Western Conference’s second seed or move down to the fourth seed. They would move up with a win over the Hornets and a Los Angeles Lakers loss to the Sacramento Kings. The Mavs would move down if they lose and the Oklahoma City Thunder wins at home against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Stojakovic, a 12-year veteran, played the previous four seasons with the Hornets. He was traded to the Toronto Raptors earlier this season and signed with the Mavericks in late January after receiving a contract buyout.
Stojakovic, a three-time All-Star for the Kings, has settled into a reserve role for the Mavericks. He is averaging 8.6 points in 20.2 minutes per game since signing in Dallas.
