Mavs to fans: Be loud, wear blue

The Mavericks can land the kill shot in Game 3 tonight.

There have been 98 teams that have been put in a 3-0 hole in NBA playoff history, according to ESPN Stats and Information. Not one has climbed out of it to win the series.

On the flip side, the Lakers will have life if they get a win. That’s the last thing the Mavs want, which is why coach Rick Carlisle made an appeal to the 20,000 folks who will fill the American Airlines Center tonight.

“We have to have the American Airlines Center as loud as Portland was,” Carlisle said. “That’s the loudest I’ve ever heard a building, and we’re going to need every gun blazing and throw the kitchen sink at these guys when they come to our place.”

The Mavs will pass out blue T-shirts to every fan at Game 3 in an attempt to create a Mavs-manic type of atmosphere. We’ll see if all the hoity-toits in the lower level will don the T-shirts, but the Mavs at least expect a high-decibel welcome home after winning twice at the Staples Center.

“They should be going nuts,” said Jason Terry, the sixth man who dabbles in cheerleading. “They should be cheering from now until there’s 0.0 on the clock.”
