DALLAS -- Mayra Correa and Robert Perez saw about 20 Mavericks’ games during the regular season but were shut out during the playoffs until they decided to attend the watch party at American Airlines Center to see Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
“We are Mavs fans,” Correa said.
So dedicated that they are in the last row (Row N) of Section 307 in the corner seats about as far away from the scoreboard as you can be.
“It doesn’t matter,” Correa said. “We had to be here.”
The Mavs have a 53-51 lead at halftime despite just 1-of-12 shooting from Dirk Nowitzki. The Heat put together a 16-1 run but a skirmish between DeShawn Stevenson and Mario Chalmers after an Eddie House three seemed to quiet Miami’s momentum.
Correa saw the silver lining in Nowitzki’s poor shooting: the Mavericks still have the lead.
“We don’t just have one star,” Correa said. “We’ve got like a team. Not just one guy.”
