DALLAS -- Dwaine Carraway knows well enough not to talk about what could happen should the Mavericks hold on in the fourth quarter to beat Miami and win the franchise’s first NBA Championship.
With a lead after three quarters the Dallas mayor sounded like Rick Carlisle: stay in the moment.
“We’re almost there,” Carraway said. “It’s not over.”
But it’s hard not to believe this is not the Mavs’ night considering Ian Mahimi’s buzzer beater to give the Mavs an 81-72 lead entering the final quarter.
“This is great,” Carraway said of the setting. “The fans, the setting. This is great for the city’s morale. I think we all have a great appreciation for Dallas Mavericks’ basketball. This is just unreal.”
