Rick Carlisle loved Washington's speech

Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle shed a little more light on his Thursday visit with Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington on Thursday during an appearance on Galloway and Co. on 103.3 FM ESPN.

Carlisle said he called Washington after the manager's fiery clubhouse speech prior to Game 7 was leaked and went viral on the Internet.

Let's just say that Carlisle was pretty fired up after listening to the speech.

"Ron Washington is one of the real treasures in all of sports," Carlisle said. "I've gotten to know him now, and basically I called to tell him that it was one of the greatest things I have ever heard because it was completely authentic, it got his guys complete disarmed and loose for the game. The guys were ready to go and I just thought it was one of the greatest moments that I've heard in coaching. It was unfortunate that it leaked."

During that phone conversation, Carlisle asked Washington if he was going to be back in town any time soon, and if he was, would he like to drop by and talk sports with Carlisle and his staff.

Washington, back in town for a few days to tie up loose ends at the ballpark and talk to general manager Jon Daniels, stopped by the AAC on Thursday to visit the basketball guys.
