DALLAS – Jason Kidd is ready to return after missing four games to rest a sore lower back.
Kidd’s back spasms subsided during the Mavericks’ four-game winning streak without him. Coach Rick Carlisle, as usual, will carefully monitor Kidd’s minutes. The plan is to play Kidd about 25 minutes tonight against the Kings.
“I’ve got to kind of read the situation,” Carlisle said. “It’s been a week, so he needs to get back out there and get into it, but we don’t want to go overboard or anything like that. It’ll be great getting him back. We weathered the storm without him, but we’re not going to be the same team without him.”
Carlisle wants to play Kidd enough so that the 38-year-old point guard can establish some type of rhythm before a four-game road trip that begins Monday against the Lakers. Of course, Carlisle also wants Kidd to feel rested and refreshed when that road trip begins.
