After 1: Pacers 29, Mavs 28

DALLAS – Dirk Nowitzki's jump shot has returned from the dead.

Nowitzki needed only 69 seconds to match his field goal total (two) from Wednesday night’s loss. He hit all five of his shots from the floor -- all midrange jumpers -- to finish the first quarter with 10 points.

Now, about that defense …

The Pacers hit their first eight shots from the floor, including a few buckets by Indiana power forward David West. The Mavs’ defense stiffened significantly in the final 5:17 of the quarter, when the Pacers hit only two of 12 shots from the floor.

The Mavs pulled within one with an 11-4 run during that span.
