NEW ORLEANS -- A vintage Vinsanity moment might have given the Mavs a little life. Just not for too long.
Vince Carter spun baseline to beat Marc Belinelli en route to the rim, rising for a tomahawk slam. That started an 11-0 run in which Carter scored seven points and dished out an assist.
That spurt gave the Mavs the lead, but it didn’t last long. Hornets reserve guard Xavier Henry (season-high 13 points, 6-9 FG) hit a pair of long jumpers late in the half to help push the New Orleans lead back to six.
The half was a pretty big defensive disaster for Dallas. The Hornets, who are missing four key contributors are have the worst record in the West, are shooting 47.8 percent from the floor.
