DALLAS -- Shawn Marion's sore left knee is causing him enough problems that he did not participate in Saturday morning's shootaround and coach Rick Carlisle said the do-everything forward will be a game-time decision tonight against the San Antonio Spurs.
Marion has been adamant that the knee will not sideline him as the Dallas Mavericks begin a difficult stretch of the schedule against teams positioned in playoff spots.
"Game-time decision and we want to make sure he's right," Carlisle said.
Dallas will already be without starting center Brendan Haywood (sprained right knee) and guard Delonte West, who had the pins removed from his right ring finger on Friday, yet still does not have a definitive timeline for his return.
Marion's availability tonight could be crucial considering Spurs shooting guard Manu Ginobili is expected to play after sitting out Friday night's win at Oklahoma City.
The Spurs will not have Stephen Jackson tonight. He still must undergo a physical before joining the team. San Antonio traded small forward Richard Jefferson to Golden State for Jackson, a role player on the Spurs' 2003 championship team.
Marion is the lone Mav to play in all 45 games this season.
