Mavs tuning up for Summer League title?

Around July 10, the Dallas Mavericks will have their three rookies in town along with a group of undrafted hopefuls who will fill out their Summer League squad that plays in Las Vegas from July 13-22 (Mavs schedule below).

One of those hopefuls looks to be Drew Gordon, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of New Mexico. He broke the news Friday on his Twitter account:

The Mavs have not yet confirmed Gordon's tweet.

With first-round draft picks Jared Cunningham (No. 24) and two second-rounders in Bernard James (No. 33) and Jae Crowder (No. 34), both of whom will be looking to impress to earn a contract (second-round contracts are not guaranteed), the Mavs think they'll be fielding a pretty competitive team in Vegas.

"We feel like we’ll have a really good summer-league team this year," Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said. "Those guys will get some good experience and we’ve got to get them ready for the fall."
