Have Mavs' last few wins been fool's gold?

DALLAS -- After 10 losses in 11 games, Rick Carlisle isn't going to complain about a three-game winning streak.

But Carlisle isn't getting carried away, either.

"It’s good to have some tangible, positive results as far as wins, but some of it has been a little bit of fool’s gold because we’ve been catching teams on back-to-backs and things like that," Carlisle said. "I talked to the team about that some. We’ve got to make sure that we don’t become too smitten with ourselves just because we put some wins together. We’ve got to stay focused on having an edge, fighting for every inch on our home court."

The Mavs started the winning streak with an overtime victory over the lottery-regular Sacramento Kings. They followed that up with victories by double-digit margins over the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves, taking advantage of two teams that were playing the butt end of back-to-backs.

There is an opportunity to pan for more fool's gold Wednesday night. The Houston Rockets arrive at the AAC with a four-game losing streak that was extended Tuesday night by the Los Angeles Clippers.
