Jae Crowder, D.J. Stephens out vs. Bulls

LAS VEGAS -- Jae Crowder and D.J. Stephens were ruled out for the Dallas Mavericks’ summer league finale tonight against the Chicago Bulls due to injuries.

Second-year forward Crowder sprained his ankle late in the first quarter of the team’s loss against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. Summer league coach Monte Mathis said he didn’t think the injury was bad after the game, but that it wasn’t worth him trying to play through the pain.

In five games, Crowder averaged 13.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.2 steals in the Las Vegas Summer League. He shot .431 percent from the field and .158 percent from 3-point range.

Swingman Stephens has a bone bruise on his left knee. He injured his knee on a block attempt in the fourth quarter of the game against the Warriors.

In four games, Stephens averaged 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds.
