Jeff Cunningham selected in MLS Re-Entry Draft

FC Dallas striker Jeff Cunningham, who's 2011 option hadn't been picked up by FCD, was drafted by the Columbus Crew with the 8th pick in the MLS Re-Entry Draft for 2011.

FCD had declined Cunningham's option and he, along with Dario Sala, was eligible for the Re-Entry Draft based on age and time in the league.

If the player selected is not under contract, as was the case with Cunningham, the drafting club will be required to make an offer to the player within seven days. In the event that an agreement cannot be reached between the drafting club and the out-of-contract player, the drafting club will hold the right of first refusal for that player in MLS.

Dario Sala, having not been selected, can now negotiate with any MLS club.
