Dallas Texans prepare for the Dallas Cup

Other than the FC Dallas Academy, which we praise in this space all the time for being so ground breaking in the MLS structure, there is another top tier youth club of excellence here in North Texas: The Dallas Texans. (Actaully there are several excellent clubs, Solar SC, who has partnered with Chealsea, to name one)

The Texans are partnered with Manchester United and Nike, and are also the current host club for the Dallas Cup.

They are also the only US based club to win the Dallas Cup SuperGroup with their incredible side a few years back that featured current MLS players Omar Gonzalez (LA), Andre Akpan (Col), and Stephen McCarty (NE). Not to mention their best player at the time, Jonathan Villanueva, who had such amazing potential and is now with the Richmond Kickers after playing for Virginia in College and flirting with MLS' Generation adidas program. (anyone know where Bill Dworsky and David Murphy landed?)

That Dallas Texans Red 88, with 3 National Championships to go with the DC Super Group win, was arguably the best youth side in US history.

Being part of the Nike family, Dallas Texans are getting the superstar treatment and being featured in the same promos as Arsenal, Corinthians, and Barcelona. In this particular video they get to step into the spotlight all alone as they prepare for Dallas Cup.

I also found this little nugget surfing their site this morning looking for info, Dallas Texans have started a resident Academy.
