FC Dallas up 1-0 at halftime of season opener

FRISCO, Texas -- FC Dallas leads the New York Red Bulls 1-0 at halftime in the season opener at FC Dallas Stadium.

FC Dallas was aggressive early and it paid off. Zach Lloyd's left footer off a failed clearance put FC Dallas up in the 11th minute.

The Red Bulls avoided another goal when keeper Ryan Meara saved a hard strike inside the box from Blas Perez in the 34th minute.

The Red Bulls had two free kicks just outside the box late in the half. The best opportunity came when Thierry Henry's free kick in the 44th minute hit off the right post.

New York won the possession battle in the first half, but didn't have any shots on goal.

New York's Dax McCarty (5') and FC Dallas' Jair Benitez (38') were both shown yellow cards in the first half.
