FC Dallas news recap (9/14)

The biggest news of the day in my book is the 34 game schedule for 2011.

Soccer American has an interview with Brek Shea.

Steve Hunt talks FCD's team MVP candidates on FSSW. I'll help you out, it's answer #1.

Apparently it was San Jose Sharks night at the game this weekend.

Here's CenterLineSoccer.com's photos from this weekend's game. I did a pre-game podcast with them you can listen to here. They were going to send a link in advance but forgot. If you want to hear my portion it's at minute 51 give or take. A lot of it is still relevant and team oriented rather than just vs. San Jose related.

Match Fit on FCD's new head man, Doug Quinn.

Tribal Football says Quinn is after more international games.

Ridge Mahoney talks LA Galaxy and hot teams, including FCD.

Andy Friedlander has a couple stories, first it's FCD winning despite lineup changes. Ruben Luna almost scoring. Jackson is a man of many skills.

MLS Power Rankings still has FCD third, despite the fact they haven't lost since may.

Hyndman's crew welcomes Thierry Henry & Co. on Thursday, having won their last six at home, outscoring opponents 10-1 in that span.

Goal.com still has FCD #1 in their rankings.

1. FC Dallas – It wasn't the prettiest of displays at Buck Shaw Stadium, but FCD probably didn't care much after departing northern California with a draw and a 14-match unbeaten run. (1)

MLS has an article about remaining schedules. Dallas has 4 of 7 at home (2nd best), but faces some tougher opponents with a combined .538 winning percentage (tied 3rd toughest).

Jackson's injury is a muscle contusion and not the knee. The same article has a very interesting quote from coach Hyndman on Ruben Luna.

“Right now, we have Milton coming back. Ruben [Luna] adds a lot when he comes on. He’s a young player and he’s more the future of FC Dallas. Whether it’s this year, next year or five years down the road, he really has a bright future with us. Saying that, I think it’s more trying to get fresh legs into that attacking phase."

More form FCD's prolific site...

- Dallas motivated against New York.

- A translation of Ruben Luna's blog (it's in Spanish normally). It's from before the TFC game but was just posted in English.

- Rafa Marquez is "likely" to play against FCD. He better be or there will be some pissed off Mexican fans at PHP this weekend.

- Training report 9/14. George John is in full training, Dax McCarty says he is ready to start.

- Training report 9/13.

A home grown player FCD missed out on, Gabriel Funes, is leading the Argentine league in scoring. He won the Dallas Sueno but turned down a spot in the FCD Youth program to go and tryout with River Plate. Obliviously in hind sight a good more on his part. His twin brother Ramario also plays for River.

Non-FCD stories

Jay-Z wants to buy in on Arsenal. Apparently he's a big fan. The world is changing my friends.
