FC Dallas shutout streak at four games after Rapids loss

Despite a lineup shift to a 4-4-2 and the reunited wide pair of Brek Shea and Marvin Chavez, FC Dallas was once again held scoreless, this time by the Colorado Rapids. FCD has now been shutout in four straight games, a first in franchise history. FCD will need to score in the first four minute of their next game to avoid breaking the franchise scoreless mark (364-minutes).

Immaturity again played a role for Dallas as head coach Schellas Hyndman was forced to pull off the dynamic Jackson just 34 minutes into the game after an early yellow card. "The thing that scared me was the reminiscing of the Columbus game when he got two yellow cards in the span of a minute, and I wouldn’t bet my house that he would not get a second yellow," Hyndman said of the move. "It was more of a gut feeling, and it hurt because we lost a pretty good player — but I didn’t want to see the emotional intelligence. It’s just too dangerous right now."

FCD also lost midfielder Andrew Jacobson to a head injury. Jacobson had to leave the game after the Drew Moor game-winning-goal as he was injured on the very same play.

But perhaps most frustrating for FCD fans is the continued inability to score. FCD out shot Colorado 11 to 8 on the night and enjoyed a large share of the possession, but yet had nothing to show for it. "I think a lot of it is the ball hasn’t bounced right, coach Hyndman said. "I think that today [Matt Pickens] made a couple of really good saves in the first half. We got that knock-down ball late in the first half. In the second half I thought we had two clean cut chances, in the one Chavez put over the goal without a goalkeeper, and then the one Brek had when he did an acrobatic move and tried to hit it back on the frame. Those were two pretty good chances for us that we were unable to put on the frame."

With the win, the Rapids (10-9-12) now have 45 points with two games left, while Dallas (13-10-7) remain on 46 points with three games remaining.
