FRISCO -- Forward Steve Ott will not play in Friday's game against Colorado due to a hip injury. He could miss the first game of the Stars' upcoming road trip (Sunday at Carolina) as well.
"He won't be ready for us tomorrow," Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said after Thursday's practice. "He's got a bit of a hip pointer. It's bruising out now, so that's a good thing. We can see it. I don't think he'll be a guy for Sunday, but that Tuesday game in Washington isn't out of sight for us now. We just want to make sure he is ready."
Ott suffered the injury in last Thursday's game against Los Angeles, finished that game and then played through the injury in Saturday's game against New Jersey.
Defenseman Nicklas Grossman, who suffered a cut to the cheek from a skate in Saturday's game, switched from the full cage to a half-shield for practice today. Grossman said the clear shield worked better for him.
Today's practice lines looked the same as yesterday's.
