Morning skate: Update on Brenden Morrow's injury situation

DALLAS -- Stars coach Glen Gulutzan shed some light on what the Stars are thinking in keeping injured captain Brenden Morrow out the next three games.

Morrow, who missed Wednesday's game with an upper body injury, will miss tonight's game against Toronto and road games at Phoenix (Saturday) and Colorado (Monday).

"Three times a year Brenden gets an injection for his back. His back has been bothering him a bit. We have to take care of that," Gulutzan said. "It's something that we build into the season. When I talked to Dave Zeis (head athletic trainer) in August, it is something we have to do three times during the year.

"And with the little nicks - his knee, the back and he had to go on antibiotics when his elbow was infected. So you get all these little things and Brenden will play through them all, and we don't want him to do that. We want him to get back to 100 percent and just quit battling at 70 percent. He won't say anything, but sometimes you have to make sure you are doing what's best long-term for the athlete and that's what we are doing right now."

The Stars take on the Maple Leafs tonight at American Airlines Center. It appears the Stars will go with the same lineup as Wednesday against the Kings. Kari Lehtonen, of course, in goal. Jonas Gustavsson is in net for Toronto.
