Lehtonen to IR; Bachman and Wathier recalled

The Dallas Stars have placed goaltender Kari Lehtonen on injured reserve and have called up goaltender Richard Bachman and left wing Francis Wathier from the Texas Stars of the American League.

With Lehtonen going on IR, he’ll miss at least the next two games with the groin injury he suffered in the first period of Saturday night’s 3-0 loss at Phoenix. The Dallas goalie, who is tied for the league-lead with 13 wins, was injured while stopping a shot by Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris on a play that was offside.

Lehtonen joins Stars captain Brenden Morrow (upper body), defenseman Alex Goligoski (broken thumb) and right wing Adam Burish (broken hand) on the injured reserve list. Morrow is expected to return for Thursday's game against Ottawa. Goligoski and Burish are expected to return around mid-December.

Defenseman Trevor Daley (back) and center Vernon Fiddler (groin) also were injured in the Phoenix game. After the contest, Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said Daley was considered unlikely to play Monday and Fiddler was considered day-to-day.

Bachman has played 15 games for Texas this season, posting a 7-5-1 record, 3.13 goals against average and a .887 save percentage. He played in one game for Dallas last season, stopping all four shots he faced in 9:35 of playing time against Phoenix.

Wathier has 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) and had a team-high plus-3 rating in 19 games with Texas. He has played eight NHL games with Dallas, registering no points.
