Postgame quotes

Here are some postgame quotes following the Dallas Stars’ 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan, on the loss

“I thought they capitalized on their power plays and we didn’t capitalize on ours. I thought five-on-five the game was pretty even. It’s just specialty teams came into play and they beat us at that game for sure.”

Stars forward Steve Ott

“They’ve got a great high scoring team. They are the top scoring team in the league and if you give them chances on the power play, you are going to shoot yourself in the foot. They did a pretty good job of spreading our penalty kill out.”

Stars captain Brenden Morrow, who got a ten minute misconduct, on the team’s penalty woes in the game

“It’s just a little embarrassing when all you have to do is throw your head around to get a penalty call. I think I got two sticks in the face and if you don’t fall on the ice or throw your head back to make it look obvious they are not going to see it, they are just going to apologize for it. I let them know it. I’ve been in the league 12 years now and I know what’s worth a 10 (minute misconduct) because I’ve had plenty. With the big lights of HBO or Versus tonight, they got a little sensitive. Not taking away from anything [the Flyers] did. They got under our skin, they played hard, they battled, their fourth line was real physical. They did a good job.”

Flyers center Claude Giroux, who had four points in the game

“I think we just started to relax, play our game, get on the forecheck and make sure we don’t do any mistakes out there. I guess that guys really wanted to win this game. I had a lot of fun just playing and was kind of in Dallas’ face and they were pretty much doing the same thing to us. It was a fun game and important to get those two points.”
