Stars center Mike Ribeiro, who is out for tonight's game at Anaheim, has a slight tear in his MCL. Ribeiro injured his right knee in a knee-on-knee collision in Saturday's game against the Edmonton Oilers.
"He has an MCL there, but there's an old MCL (injury) there so that pollutes the waters a little bit of what is actually there. He has it and he is limping around," said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. "Ribs thinks he can play, but for his sake we've got to make sure that he is stable enough that he is not going to get an injury there. He really wanted to come on the trip and we had to make him stay at home. He's going to skate today (wearing a brace) and we'll see how it is."
If Ribeiro does fine with that skate today he could join the team in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Souray in tonight
"I'm anxious to get back and playing with this group," Souray said.
With Souray ready to go tonight he will come off injured reserve. The Stars have placed defenseman Philip Larsen, who is out with concussion-like symptoms, on injured reserve.
Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said he go with seven defensemen tonight with Souray coming back in after missing several games and Mark Fistric coming off a bout with the flu.
Kari Lehtonen will start in goal for the Stars tonight.
