The Texas Stars announced today they've signed defenseman Tyler Ludwig to a one-year contract. Tyler is the son of former Stars defenseman Craig Ludwig and the twin brother of Trevor Ludwig, who is under contract with the Dallas Stars and is expected to play with the Texas Stars this season.
Here's an excerpt from the Texas Stars' release on the signing:
Ludwig turned pro after a four-year career at Western Michigan University, joining the Stars for the final seven games of the regular season. Over his short AHL stint, Ludwig was scoreless with four penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, he spent four years with Western Michigan University, scoring 16 goals and dishing out 54 assists for 70 points in 152 NCAA games. During his junior and senior seasons, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound defender led the Broncos in points by a defenseman. The Colleyville, TX native posted a +12 rating as a senior and finished his NCAA career a +5 overall.
