McKeen’s Hockey is out with its annual list of the Top 150 NHL prospects and Jack Campbell is ranked No. 1 among the 30 NHL goaltending prospects ranked.
Campbell, the Stars 1st round pick (11th overall) in this past summer’s draft, is currently playing with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League. He made his first preseason appearance Monday, stopping seven of eight shots in 20 minutes of action. Campbell will play for the Stars at the NHL Prospects Tournament, which opens this Saturday in Traverse City, Michigan.
Three other Dallas prospects are ranked among the Top 120 skaters by McKeen’s, which releases its top prospects list in its hockey yearbook.
Right wing/center Scott Glennie, the Stars’ 1st round pick (8th overall) in 2009, is ranked 28th, that’s up three spots from last year. Glennie, who is currently with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL, will also play for the Stars at Traverse City.
Right wing Alex Chiasson, the Stars 2nd round pick (38th overall) in 2009, is ranked 100th. He will be a sophomore at Boston University this fall. Chiasson was not ranked last year.
Defenseman Philip Larsen, the Stars’ 5th round pick (149th overall) in 2008, is ranked 103rd. Larsen is under contract this season and is expected to start the season with the Texas Stars of the AHL. He will play for the Stars at Traverse City.
The top ranked skater on McKeen’s list is Edmonton forward Taylor Hall. Rounding out the top five are Boston forward Tyler Seguin, Florida defenseman Erik Gudbranson, Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban and Phoenix defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
