The Stars were back on the ice today in Frisco and that meant updates on the injury situation. Brad Richards, who has missed the last three games with concussion-like symptoms, did not skate today. There is no timetable for his return at this point and Richards said he has to stay patient with the process.
"I'm not thinking when I am back yet. I am just trying to get healthy," Richards said. "It's the first time I've been through something like this and it's not fun. You have your moments during the day when you thing you're turning the corner and then in another couple hours things are not good. It's a process and patience is what I am being told is the biggest thing I've got to have right now and let Mother Nature kind of fix itself with my brain or head or what ever is going on."
Defenseman Nicklas Grossman, who has missed the last three games with a hip injury, did not skate today and does not appear ready to return yet.
"He went to see one of the doctors today," said Stars coach Marc Crawford. "He skated the other day and he is improving, but they are going to try to get a better assessment on exactly what the injury is."
"We're going to have to check with our medical people to see if they are going to get cleared," said Crawford. "Nobody has been cleared to play yet. They've been cleared to practice and it was nice to see them out there. You could see we had a little bit more life, a little more juice, a little bit more energy."
As for if any of them could return Tuesday, Crawford said this: "I think there is a chance some of them may play, but we won't know until we hear from the doctors. They all think that they're ready, but they don't have the call on this."
Kari Lehtonen will start in goal for the Stars tomorrow.
