SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Outfielder Josh Hamilton didn't look too worried this morning when he was asked about his left shoulder and neck.
He said it was "very sore," but he was able to lift his arm over his head, saying it was tight as he did so. He iced the shoulder on Wednesday and was planning on getting treatment today, but not taking part in the baseball activities with his teammates. He fell on his shoulder during outfield drills on Wednesday and said his neck had a spasm as a result.
Hamilton is still listed as day-to-day and could resume activities soon.
RHP Omar Poveda's MRI has been sent to Dr. Lewis Yocum for a second opinion. The club is in the process of getting the MRI read and could know the results today or tomorrow. But it certainly appears that Poveda will have Tommy John surgery, ending his 2010 season. The Rangers have some time to decide what to do with Poveda in terms of the 40-man roster.
