Rangers robbed of home run

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Josh Hamilton hit what appeared to be a home run over the wall in left field in the fourth inning.

But second base umpire Doug Eddings ruled it a double.

Rangers manger Ron Washington ran out to argue the call but was told it was not going to change. Replays showed the ball land on a support beam connecting the left field scoreboard to a wall.

The ground rules at the Rangers Ballpark state that's a home run.

The umpires didn't review the play, and Hamilton didn't get beyond third base. The would-be home run would have been Hamilton's ninth, instead he's at eight. He hit a solo shot in the second inning.

After six innings, the Rangers trailed the Orioles, 2-1.
