Lineups: Smoak sits; Arias starts at 1B

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Justin Smoak will get a day off for the first time as a big leaguer.

Smoak, who has started all 26 games at first base since being called up April 23, isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Manager Ron Washington said the decision didn't have anything to do with Smoak's slump, just that he had been wanting to give Smoak a day off. Smoak is hitless in his last 11 at-bats, dropping his average to .174. Washington said Smoak would be back in the lineup Friday.

Joaquin Arias will make his first major league start at first base. More on that in another post in a little bit.
