All-Star voters like Cruz, Guerrero

The Rangers' Nelson Cruz and Vladimir Guerrero are in position to be All-Star Game starters after the first batch of voting results was released today.

Guerrero leads AL voting at designated hitter. Cruz is third among outfielders, trailing the Seattle Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki and the Tampa Bay Rays' Carl Crawford.

The next closest Ranger to a starting spot is Josh Hamilton, who is fourth among outfielders.

Elvis Andrus is second in voting at shortstop, but he has fewer than half the votes of the New York Yankees' Derek Jeter.

Michael Young is third at third base, trailing the Rays' Evan Longoria and the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez. Ian Kinsler is third at second base, behind the Yankees' Robinson Cano and Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox.

Expect there to plenty of changes before voting at MLB.com ends July 1.

For example, don't count on Taylor Teagarden, who has been demoted to Double-A Frisco, remaining in fourth place in the voting for catchers.
