Young gets closer to hits record

Michael Young's infield hit in the first inning gave him 1,745 for his career and put him within two of Ivan Rodriguez's all-time Rangers record.

His grounder off Milwaukee starter Manny Parra was too deep for Brewers shortstop Alcides Escobar to make his throw on time, but Young almost overran first, thinking the ball would get through.

Ian Kinsler followed Young's hit with a single to right.

Justin Smoak's seventh double of the season, with two outs, scored Young and Kinsler.
