He's won five of his last six decisions and has gone 5-1 with a 3.16 ERA in that span. Opponents are batting just .209 against Lewis, third-best in the AL. He's ninth in strikeouts with 112. Lewis has won his last three road starts and is 4-4 with a 3.44 ERA in 10 starts away from Arlington this season. He earned the win in his last start against the Tigers, giving up four earned runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings pitched. He had 10 strikeouts and two walks in that game on April 25 in Arlington.
Scherzer (6-7, 4.74 ERA): The former first-round pick (11th overall by Arizona in 2006) allowed four runs on five hits in five innings with five walks and seven strikeouts against Cleveland in an 8-2 loss. He's had quality starts in five of his last seven starts. He's 5-2 with a 3.80 ERA in eight starts at home, a vastly better showing than the 1-5 mark and a 5.61 ERA in road starts. Earlier this season, Scherzer went seven innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in a 5-4 loss to Texas.
Hitters: Vladimir Guerrero has only faced Scherzer three times, but he has two hits, including a homer and two RBIs. Michael Young (2-for-6) and Bengie Molina (2-for-5) have also had some success against Scherzer.
