Rangers get highest TV ratings in 6 years

Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Angels was the highest-rated Rangers telecast on Fox Sports Southwest in six years, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The game averaged a 5.9 household rating in Dallas-Fort Worth, the team’s best rating on FOX Sports Southwest since a 6.4 on May 21, 2004 against the New York Yankees.

An average of 149,000 Dallas-Fort Worth homes watched Cliff Lee’s first victory as a Ranger that increased the team’s lead over the Angels in the A.L. West to six games. From 7:15-10:00 p.m., the game was the most-watched program in the market and peaked with a 7.5 rating (191,000 homes) from 9:30-9:45 p.m.

Since the All-Star break, Rangers games on FOX Sports Southwest are averaging a 4.9 rating. For the season, FOX Sports Southwest Rangers telecasts are averaging a 2.8 rating.
