Boston's Jed Lowrie won't test heat

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Red Sox second baseman Jed Lowrie left Friday night's game with heat exhaustion, sat out Saturday's game and won't test today's searing heat either.

Lowrie missed 94 games this season with mononucleosis.

Bill Hall will replace Lowrie at second base. Meanwhile, David Ortiz will have the day off and former Rangers catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia will make his first start of the series for the Red Sox and second since being recalled.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are going with a reserve-laden lineup with Ian Kinsler still out, Nelson Cruz out with a hamstring injury and Vladimir Guerrero receiving the day off.
