Tommy Hunter does well for Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas -- At this stage of the regular season, with the division title clinched, the Rangers are trying to finalize their playoff roster and make sure the pitchers who will participate in the ALDS head into things with confidence.

Tommy Hunter, who is expected to pitch a potential Game 4, made his final regular-season start and lasted five innings, throwing 60 pitches in getting a no-decision.

Manager Ron Washington said Hunter was efficent, adding that he has no problem putting him on the hill against either Tampa Bay or New York.

Hunter allowed one run on three hits with one strikeout. The only score was Torii Hunter's home run to center that gave the Angels a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.

"It was another outing, I wish I wouldn't have given up the home run," Hunter said. "Torii Hunter is a pretty good hitter and I

ve got to tip the cap. I think more confident no, it was another start, just being relaxed and throw the ball, that's what you're supposed to do."
