ARLINGTON, Texas -- Bad got worse for the Rangers when local villain Alex Rodriguez hit a bases-loaded shot to the hot corner in the eighth inning.
If third baseman Michael Young can field the ball cleanly, it’s a double-play ball that probably prevents disaster. But the ball got by Young, allowing two runs to score and opening the floodgates for the Yankees.
It would have been a Gold Glove-kind of play. Young didn’t come close.
“I would have loved to have made it,” Young said. “I don’t know if I could have made it. He hit it hard and it took kind of a tricky hop at the end. I would have loved for it to find my glove, but I’m not going to lose any sleep over that play, that’s for sure.”
