ARLINGTON, Texas -- It seems almost automatic at this point. Give Colby Lewis the ball and watch the Rangers win.
At least, that’s the way it’s worked his last three starts this postseason.
Of course, it wasn’t always this way. Lewis endured a stretch of nine consecutive starts, spanning nearly two months, without a win this season.
Lewis, who had a 12-13 record this season, wasn’t to blame for most of those. In fact, he had a few one-run outings mixed in there.
But it’s tough to win without run support. The Rangers scored a total of 16 runs during Lewis’ nine-start winless streak.
By comparison, they’ve scored 17 runs during his three postseason wins.
“We were joking that we saved up all the runs for the playoffs,” Josh Hamilton said.
It’s (about) time.
