It's not exactly a prize that will make any Rangers fans jump up and down this morning, but Texas does get something for losing Cliff Lee to the Phillies.
Assuming Philadelphia doesn't sign any more free agents that would be higher ranked on the Type A scale, Texas would get the Phillies' first-round pick, No. 33 overall, and a supplemental first-round selection in the 2011 draft. It's supposed to be a deep draft, so having more picks is certainly not a bad thing.
This new ownership group has said that it will continue to put plenty of resources into scouting and development and that includes signing draft picks. So while it's not Cliff Lee, the two additional picks can't hurt.
