In case you didn't see it earlier, two players the Rangers were interested in are now off the market.
Jim Thome, the left-handed hitting DH, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Twins for $3 million. This isn't surprising in that the Twins were considered the leaders for Thome's services. He showed he could still hit last year in Minnesota, sporting a .283 with 25 homers and 59 RBIs in 276 at-bats.
Jeff Francis was someone the Rangers checked in on during the Winter Meetings. He'll be coming to Surprise, Ariz., but as a member of the Royals after he agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth $2 million guaranteed and another $2 million in incentives. He had shoulder surgery in 2009.
Anyway, the Rangers can cross both of those players off the list.
