SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers starter Brandon Webb threw 62 pitches in his first session to live hitters at spring training Wednesday.
Manager Ron Washington, who kept a careful eye on the session, said it was what he expected.
"There were some good and some not so good [pitches]," Washington said. "But there was some sink. It wasn't the heavy sink that we'll see."
Washington said the club will see how Webb feels on Thursday before determining when he'll throw to live hitters again.
The Rangers have not put any timetable on when or whether Webb would be able to pitch in a Cactus League game. He continues to build up arm strength after pitching just four innings in the major leagues the past two seasons because of shoulder injuries.
He had shoulder surgery in August 2009.
