ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rangers Opening Day center fielder Julio Borbon ran the bases for the first time Friday afternoon since suffering a hamstring injury.
Borbon has been on the disabled list since May 14 with inflammation in his left hamstring. Borbon, hitting .270 with no home runs and 11 RBI, suffered the injury May 13 against the Los Angeles Angels.
"I'm feeling good," Borbon said prior to the first game of a three-game set with the Royals. "I didn't feel uncomfortable and I don't have a timetable as to when I'll come back."
Borbon said he will run the bases the next two days and if all goes well, he hopes to get a rehab stint in Double-A Frisco next week.
"I'm happy with the progress," he said. "I'd like to play it slow and don't want to reinjure it. I don't want to get hurt now and have a setback."
