HOUSTON -- The Rangers spoke to the agent for left-handed starter Scott Kazmir earlier this week.
The team also worked him out.
Rangers manager Ron Washington said the team was just "kicking the tires" on Kazmir, who was released by the Angels on June 15.
"We talked with him," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said. "Doing our due dilligence. Not sure if anything's going to come of it, but we try to look at every opportunity to see if someone can help us."
Kazmir, a seven-year veteran, is 66-61 with a 4.17 ERA in his career, but injuries and ineffective performances have hurt his stock.
