The Texas Rangers officially announced today that the club has signed Dominican outfielder Ronald Guzman to a 2012 contract. Financial terms were not disclosed, per club policy.
Guzman, 16, bats and throw left-handed. He is 6-foot-5 and weighs 205 pounds and was born on Oct. 20, 1994 in La Vega, Dominican Republic, where he still resides.
He joined Nomar Mazara, who also signed with Texas this week, on the Dominican Republic squad in the RBI World Series in Jupiter, Florida last August. That club won the Junior Division (14-15) championship.
Guzman will report to the club’s Domincan complex in Boca Chica upon his return home.
