Beltre is scheduled to start against the Rays on Thursday in the final game of the homestand.
Manager Ron Washington said Beltre can expect to be rested at times in September.
“He’ll get a day every now and again, knowing how much we need him for the last month,’’ Washington said.
For the better part of four months, Beltre was an iron man in the Rangers' lineup.
But he had to go to the disabled list on July 23 when he injured his hamstring running the bases.
While going through rehab work, Beltre tweaked the injury again on Aug. 6. He’s missed 36 games and the Rangers are only four games over .500 in his absence.
At the time of his injury, Beltre was the only Rangers player to appear in all 100 games and ranked second in the league in RBIs and doubles.
Beltre has been on a rehab assignment since Monday with Round Rock and is expected to return to Rangers Ballpark today.
