Once again, the Rangers put their first two batters on base with Mike Napoli working a leadoff walk and Craig Gentry singling to put runners on first and second for pitcher Colby Lewis. The obvious play was a sacrifice bunt. Lewis got the bunt down, but third baseman David Freese had time to get the force at third and Lewis was doubled up at first.
Kinsler then came through with a rocket to the left-center field gap to at least get one run home and tie the game.
The Rangers have tagged St. Louis starter Jaime Garcia for two runs on four hits and a pair of walks in the first two innings.
Lance Berkman put the Cardinals up 2-1 in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer.
