A family illness threatened to keep Hamilton at home until next week but it has been resolved, allowing Hamilton to travel.
The Rangers slugger played the entire postseason with an injury that he first characterized as a groin strain but later self-diagnosed as a sports hernia. Meyers performed surgery on Hamilton in 2009 to repair a sports hernia injury that took him out of action for a month.
This injury robbed Hamilton of his trademark power. He hit just one home run in the postseason coming in the top of the 10th inning of Game 6 of the World Series to give the Rangers a 9-7 lead. However, Texas couldn't hold the lead and lost Game 6 in 11 innings before dropping Game 7 to the St. Louis Cardinals.
