Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton was examined late Thursday afternoon in Philadelphia by Dr. William Meyers and had an MRI exam, the results of which will be known Friday morning, the team announced.
The club said it is possible Hamilton could undergo surgery within the next 48 hours if it is determined he has a sports hernia. Meyers performed surgery on Hamilton in 2009 for sports hernia.
Hamilton played the entire postseason with an injury that severely limited his power. He hit just one home run in 17 postseason games.
