The Rangers tendered contract offers to all players on the roster except right-handed pitcher Fabio Castillo. The club had a deadline of 11 p.m. CST to decide.
The 22-year-old Castillo spent the 2011 season with Double-A Frisco and was 3-6 with a 6.36 ERA and nine saves in 42 relief appearances. He comes off the 40-man roster, leaving the club with 36 players on that roster. The club could always re-sign Castillo.
If both sides haven't reached a deal by Jan. 18, they will exchange figures in an effort to reach an agreement. The Rangers will start talking with the agents for these players later this month or early January in hopes of getting things hammered out.
Maybe the player to watch: Andrus. He made $452,180 last year and is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. He'll earn a nice raise.
